  1. Career Union Journeyman Glazier here. L.O.F. = Libby, Owens, Ford. Read left to right, obviously. "HI-TEST SAFETY PLATE" A.S.-W.S. "auto-safety, windshield safety" I have forgotten what the LY was abbreviated for. Perhaps late 1960's to mid 1970's glass. Unfortunately, there is not a date stamp so more than likely not original glass. These days, Laminated glass for automotive use is "AS-2". This code means that the Poly-Vinyl Laminate sheet is 45 thousandths of an inch thick as opposed to "AS-1" which is for commercial bldg. and trades use at 25 thou.
  2. I made a mold and used 2 part Poly-Urethane rubber and pigmented the liquid black AND white. Duro hardness of 95. They came out quite well.
  3. Great photos Brad! I hope that you can get Your Weasel up and running better. WHEEEW on them gasoline prices there. I thought that $4.15 a gallon was rough here in Wa. state, but damn!! Anyway, it looks great..
  4. Good Day Men. I haven't been too active since Patrick started this wonderful Web-Page. BUT, I have been working on some small parts for the engine most recently. I have successfully rebuilt my 1st. ever generator. It was so simple, I'm kind of kicking myself for not doing the ones for my G-506 trucks, I just saved about $350.00 by NOT having my "go-to" shop do it. I digress. Here is a short video of the motoring test of the generator. There are two recent videos of it being torn down and then reassembled on my channel. Thanks for watching. Enjoy.
  5. Today I disassembled the starter. In this video I remove the Solenoid and test it to find out whether or not it still operates.
  6. I have begun to repair/rebuild components of my Weasel. I have had it too long and repaired too little. It has become a bad habit and I'm sick of it. The video may be a little long, but there is important info in it that will help others with the assembly process. I also included the maker of a quality rebuild kit that uses modern materials. Thanks for watching.
  7. Ernie, I received your P.M about Weasel track band replacements utilizing conveyor belt. Check your P.M. box for instructions. Dave. P.S. congrats on your weasels, they look great!!
  8. Brad, will You be offering anything for sale? If so I am in need of a complete front vent lid assembly. You found a great stash and I'm thrilled to see that You are able to recover what You can. Please keep the photos coming. Dave.
  9. Not mine. From the land of no rain, Tehachapi Calif. Good luck men. https://losangeles.craigslist.org/ant/cto/d/tehachapi-1943-studebaker-weasel/7513868849.html
  10. Fred, that is an awesome fix you have found. Years ago I used 2 part poly urethane rubber pigmented black with a duro-hardness of 90 and a soft silicon mold of the idler half. I made the pour and things worked out very well. I like this fix for the return rollers.
  11. I SAY SWOOP AND PILLAGE!! RESCUE MISSION IS IN ORDER!!
  12. Hi Frank. Dave here with some more info. The serial number for my Weasel is 7699. I have since found that the Registration number is 40185397-S. Also the Hull Tag Number falls in between 4250-4285. I looked at several of your charts you have compiled. It looks as though my Weasel should be an M-29 with the serial no. of 7699. What do you think?
  13. I took the "push-to-start" button out of my instrument panel in an attempt to free it up and make it work again. Well, I experienced a complete failure. It was too rotten inside it literally crumbled in my hot little hands. I am looking to buy a replacement please. Condition from N.O.S. to good serviceable is what I'd like. Does anyone have one for sale?
  14. Thanks Oz. I appreciate Your input, I'll contact Him and find out. James D. on the FarceBeek page was able to narrow My hull tag down to within 35 Units. M-29-C 4250 through 4285. After doing some research, I have learned that the serial numbers and the hull tag numbers were not always concurrent. So getting me in this ball-park is okay by me. She'll tell me what her number was as I get closer to completing the restoration, they always do.
  15. My M29-C Weasel is missing the Hull Tag just above where the radio is installed. How do we figure out the number is and is anyone reproducing them?
  16. Well done Oz. What is that silver "paint" you're brushing on the steel. Is it a preservative or weld through primer. My Weasel has Zinc Chromate for the first layer.
  17. Hi Oz, Thanks for the advice. When I learned that Rob wasn't going to make any more repair kits and that He only had a few left, I jumped on one. My Weasel had been in the foothills of Kings Canyon near Fresno California for a very long time. It also had an Artic Top on it when it returned from Norway. That area of Calif. is almost as dry as the Northern Territory of Australia year round. This means that my Weasel isn't badly rusted out. From the bulkhead aft, my Weasel is in pretty good shape. From there forward, not so much. HOWEVER, it is still not that bad. I have been stripping the paint from the vertical sides of it and finished that a few days ago. I am in the process of welding small holes and repairing small patches as I go. I have been studying just how I will go about cutting out the rusted areas and then putting it back together. Your photos have given me more "mental food" to chew on when I get to the areas I mentioned. I'll get some photos today of exactly what I have to deal with and post them up for You to see. Thanks for the photos You have provided, the do help tremendously!!! Dave.
  18. Have you thought about asking someone to repro one for you?
  19. Hey 3284, I've been working on my Weasel this week and I found the date that You pictured on my engine. I was able to see 44 but I was rolling up my tools and then got hungry for supper and completely forgot about cleaning the rest of numbers off. I will take a closer look tomorrow. Also, the son of one of my buddy's works at a premier machine short and loves to do side work. Hopefully he will be able to save my engine. From what little I know about machine work, I think it can be saved.
