  1. Sounds good. I'll take them. Let me know payment, shipping, n ship to info.👍
  2. So excited for the progress forgot to say the cause. Yes, apparently the gasket on the pickup tube failed. A piece was somehow dislodged?? Pressure now reading 35-40. Need new hoses at gage and filter as these allow oil to seap through. Bobby🍻
  3. We are in business!! Thanks to all once again and virtual cigars (of sorts) Aluminum Camshaft gear, a steady idle, and an oil pressure reading. Temp. Steady at 180ish, oil pressure was good but started dropping as hoses leading to gage and oil filter began dripping. Completed break-in and addressed some coolant seepage. Wasn't able to load video but here's the final count down at lowered rpm.
  4. I have send out some big thank you's to you guys for helping me along with this adventure. Learning so much. Yup, very first thing I looked for was the plug. Ha. Ordered the shaft from D. Yumulla today. Studey Intntl has them from '47-'60 but couldn't confirm Weasel usage. Have the block stripped and waiting for parts to swap out the shaft. To your good health,Cheers Gents!🍻
  5. Sad to report, the woodruff key and the 80 years won today. I was able to get the gear down to the metal sleeve around the shaft. That sleeve would absolutely not budge. Ok, sleeve, meet Mr. Grinder and Mr. Metal cutter. Welp- ordering a replacement shaft and assorted gaskets for a camshaft replacement. Cheers.🤣🍻
  6. Was able to get a good grip with puller, but would not budge. Ok, goofy question.Since the grooves are angled, does the small gear also come off in order to replace the camshaft gear?
  7. Horror freight. Haha love it. Will check it out. Tried the gear puller I have, but hooks are too thick and don't grab on. Thinking of washers behind the gear so the screw type puller can be used. Hopeful the weekend brings more progress.
  8. While I'm waiting on aluminum Camshaft gear (arrives tomorrow), I got busy with this fun guy. These 3 tools really helped. Got late/dark so oil pan and gear tomorrow. Cheers!
  9. Here she is!🤣 Leaning towards the upgraded gear. I guess I'll see if the plug is there once the cover is off. Oh, but it looks soo pretty all put together.
  10. I noted the tight fit between the arm and block - thought, ah this should do given how tight it is. 🤦‍♂️ Placed the order for it on Tue. Should be here anytime. Since the engine is still on a stand and seeing I might have to pull the gear cover off, seriously considering the aluminum gear. 1. Is it a matter of swapping the gears or is there more to it? 2. Looking at Studebaker Intl catalogue and reading previous posts it seems the '39-'54 part no.532125x is the one. I am working with a '55 Letter Kenny rebuild so original parts may have already been nixed. Would thus matter?
  11. Just a small update. Popped off the oil pan and screen assembly. Looks like my support arm gasket may be the culprit. I could see a gap between the arm and block. Waiting for gaskets, we'll see.
  12. 🤣Patrick, I remember that video and the dance of triumph! Hoping to be dancing soon.
  13. I cleaned pickup screen and tube. I did use cork gasket material for a tube to block assembly(maybe losing the pressure there?) Yes, agreed. Will be checking for gallery plugs and the pickup screen/tube. Ordering gaskets for a gear cover and oil pan redo and correct pickup tube gasket. Will let you know, Tue. or Wed. what bonehead thing I did. I can hear my old Drill Sergeant - First time engine rebuild - Trooper, you are a No-Go at this station. Ha. Thank you gentlemen for taking time from your days and quick responses to help me. I greatly appreciate it. First round of liquid refreshments on me.
  14. Before the lubriplate is added: So ignition timing was established with the no.1 on compression etc. (The engine idles ok) However the timing was set AFTER the pump/distributor shafts were joined onto the camshaft. I have no clue what direction the (keyway on the drive shaft) is pointing. Is my "diagram" correct? Would that be the keyway as mentioned? The keyway direction obviously a factor, but to cause no oil pickup?
  15. Correction. Shop uses this. They suggested filling the pump with it and turning the engine to help getting oil up and into the pickup tube. Thoughts? Assuming the plug behind camshaft gear is indeed in place.
  16. Visited machine shop and they actually had this. Barely noticeable, but would shiny element be the plug? Recommended lubricate to get pump coated perhaps to create some pressure within galleries? I think I messed up by not initially priming the pump. Would I be able to correct that as it sits? Owner agreed to swing by and take a look.
  17. Was hopeful machine shop would have pictures of front plate and timing gears, but no dice. May have to disassemble to check for that plug. Seems gear cover pretty snug against water pump. The pressure relief valve- looked at original. Bolt, spring, and valve came right out- passage was clean. Only thing noted when removed was the leading end has a pin hole; trailing end has larger opening. Chance it is backward?
  18. Is there anyway to i.d. the plug on this picture? I'm going to check with machine shop- he said he had taken pictures during assembly. Hoping he might have on of the front plate before timing gears were installed.
  19. Beginning to think a major operator malfunction of some sort. Primed pump through top hole. Wasn't getting oil to pressure line with the filter line plugged. Had both filter port and pressure line port on block completely open and not a drop. I can see gears in pump spinning. Sent air through the oil pressure line port and can see oil spraying around inside pump. Don't think the lines are plugged. Just doesn't seem to be picking up oil. ? Here are pictures of pump and dip stick. This motor was rebuilt in 1955 ( Letter Kenny) Not sure if this would affect the 5 quart capacity. Dip stick measures right at the 5 qts. Again, thank you all for taking time out of your day to help me.🙏
  20. Thanks for the tips. Doesn't appear to have any restriction from block to filter (see elbow pix). Pumped oil into oil pressure tube from block side to guage and guage registered. Removed, cleaned oil pressure relief valve(nothing noted). Added oil to fill up the pump, ran motor a few seconds, pump empties but doesn't seem to push oil up the tube so no pressure at guage. Seems pump (new gears) isn't either picking up and/or not pumping?? Outside of non-restrictive elbow from block to filter - (will try to find), not sure what's next. Will try the T-fitting to fill oil pressure tube, but seems oil eventually drains out as well as at pump. Thanks for your correspondence and further help!

  22. Assembled and ready for break-in. Sent 2 qts (10w-30 w/zdp additive) through oil pressure line that filled pump, oil filter "housing", and added another 3 qts into filler tube. Ran motor 2-3 mins but could only get a little spitting of oil out of the oil pressure guage tube. Oil pump consistently seems to empty out. New gears in pump, strainer cleaned up, machine shop handled internals. Engine is on a stand with equal angle as if in hull. It is a Letter Kenny rebuild '55. Any ideas regarding oil pressure? TIA.
  23. Hello Rob, Any chance you still have the tracks for sale? Thanks, Bobby
  24. Hello Ernie. Do you have contact I formation from the rubber track source? Greatly appreciated, Bobby Garcia, Texas
