Hello All,

As I'm missing my data plate, I was looking for information what my serial number could be.
Unfortunately there is not a lot data available.
Anyway, the numbers I did found (with at least 2 numbers known) I compiled in below table.
If you have numbers, please add them so we have a list of serial numbers for reference.

I also had contact with the Studebaker Archive, but apparently there are no production records available for the M29(C).
Anyway I have seen a production record for the US6, us I'm assuming they have something, but it is just not digged out of the pile?
Does someone know if Studebaker has any records on Weasels?

Thanks for filling up the list.....

Frank

Hello. Tag pictures attached. Plate not readable,

Hello, I'm new to the forum and new to Weasels. I just bought this M29. The data plate behind the drivers seat was painted over so I will need to carefully try to remove the paint.

After reading a little in the support area, it seems that this simple idea creates more problems than what I would have imagined.  Let me get smart on it and see if we can make this work right.

Frank, on the 1st. list in space #6, my Weasel is an M-29 C, ORD. #7699 with a delivery date of 1944. It doesn't have the "ribbon" body tag. I haven't started looking for the Registration Numbers under the paint yet. Hopefully they will be there.

Serial numbers? Mine: 11731. Ord: 5970. Body 7293. USA 40196127S.

Jesse,

You list #11731 and ORD # 5970....is this correct?

The MFG and the ORD numbers should be the same........which is which on your vehicle?

According to my records ......11731/7293/40196127 all go together but I don't know where the #5970 fits.....

Hello,

We just joined today. We have a M29C with a build year 1945. Following is the information I have if you can help me with a little history. All I know is it is from California and last ran approximately 20 years ago.

Ser#14893   Hull# M-29C-10629

engine# T2417140

trans# E1545

We look forward to participate in discussions when we get accustomed to these machines.

thanks

Fred

DIYJ. Your weasel would be an M29.

They made 1002 T24s.

The actual production of the T-24 ( Weasels with main data plates marked "T 24" ) was 1,000 vehicles. There were 2 pilot vehicles hand assembled before production started.

But factory kept the Hull # ust-24-0000.

It was actually Hull # UST-24-0001 that the factory kept. I do not believe that T24 hull numbers started at UST-24-0000 but at 0001.

Your Weasel is most likely the first production M29

This vehicle would not have been the first M-29. The first vehicle with a main data plate marked "M 29" would have been ORD/MFG # 1003.

Hey Jim,

His "Hull number" is ust-24 - 2030.

If this is is not an M29 than what was the last T-24 Hull number?

......Updated....

Now John's  T24 ....1002 ORD has a Hull tag of UST- 24 - 949

We do know that the first production M29 series ORD1003 on did still use UST-24- hull tags

I have never personally found when the first production M29 stop and the second started.      It is my belief that m-29 ORD 2303.  Is of the third production run.   I own ORD 2326 and it has a Hull tag of M29-xxxx

My latest weasel.

It's a Swedish Bandvagn m/48 so it only has the hull tag the rest are replaced by Swedish plates.

The engine install is T24-9403. I know that this is not the original engine as the Swedish army registration card from 1950 that I have lists T24-11843 as the installed engine. Does anybody know if that was the original engine installed by Studebaker? Also does anybody know which ord. serial this weasel should have?

ser number 12965 on a brass plate

USA 40197361 S is clearly printed on the rear corner. I have not gotten into this one yet for any other numbers. Maybe later this year.
