Jesse Browning Posted November 21 Posted November 21 (edited) Looked ok to me until the video started playing. There should be a big toothed lock washer there too. I had an entire chassis with all the running gear but scrapped it a year ago. Edited November 21 by Jesse Browning Quote
OZM29C Posted November 21 Posted November 21 @Reamer Even though I can see grease in your photo, lack of regular lubrication/greasing is the big killer of weasel suspension bolts and bushings. Standard Studebaker suspension bushings can be used in 3 out of four weasel suspension components with some machining needed for the two suspension arm bushings. The standard Studebaker suspension bushings are a direct fit into the spring eyes. Unfortunately the suspension rocker arm bushing, as shown in your photo is a unique weasel part. Attached are some photos that better explain. Before discarding your original suspension bolts for new replacement bolts, I would recommend test fitting them in new bushings. As in my case I was able to reuse some original suspension bolts fitted into new suspension bushings. Keep us posted. Cheers. Quote
Reamer Posted November 21 Author Posted November 21 do you happen to have a part number? looking up "Studebaker steel bushing" comes up with bushings with rubber inserts. Quote
OZM29C Posted November 22 Posted November 22 @Reamer You are right, the civilian part number is elusive nowadays. Here are two links that I have found in the short time I had that makes mention of this bushing; https://stude.vonadatech.com/wp/front-suspension/front-suspension-assembly/ https://www.ebay.com/itm/226281211111?_skw=1941+Studebaker+Champion+spring+bushing&epid=236503473&itmmeta=01JD8P5K5M9HE55KKB4B5DGWEV&hash=item34af6944e7:g:BrgAAOSwrexmuk-4&itmprp=enc%3AAQAJAAABAHoV3kP08IDx%2BKZ9MfhVJKn1mmNeRCoIc0ehpnFvd68mMVHIzer2aQev8%2F0yboNsWJ2uY8jOL4Vr09XN4iZgHsTXrwZwAirSnBXr7dKiUVfvB%2BXovDmtxWayK7dP9IbqsKsfEndX3Mcwcu7g3GwHLQxwLlunx4hbrynoxno9%2FVsADAfbR1qLyf%2FawKTbljGPFS%2BHBdF954J5OeDEbzEf7j2eWf8sLZPxKGe9hGty3C2OPy7kKi5ZRuQyvyBi7k6D3n6AqCbEDrKm3P3mcsX7yW8ozElfwIblZA9tYrgeqdFf3%2FoKYUGNN4yglz2gxRzZxEGMDFelNt%2F154%2BUBRk7IF0%3D|tkp%3ABFBMgLOWlupk Parts numbers out of the TM are as follows; Sorry don't have any more time for now to contunue the search 1 Quote
OZM29C Posted November 22 Posted November 22 @Reamer I finally found the listing and the suppliers part name for you. Unfortunately they are out of stock; 196580 Trunion Pin https://www.studebakerparts.com/studebakerparts/store/s/agora.cgi?product=suspension8&next=36 Here is another photo that I found showing the four bushings together. 1 Quote
M29C3284 Posted November 22 Posted November 22 Since most of these bushing are unobtainable and the ones that are available are way overpriced. I made my own from the original Studebaker drawings, see my restoration thread: Quote
Reamer Posted November 23 Author Posted November 23 thank you OZM, so they are all the same ID and OD? makes sense. Know I see the cutting on the lathe "to Fit" Quote
Reamer Posted November 23 Author Posted November 23 What material Specification would be required to make trunions? Quote
