Hi Dave, I recently asked the same question on the Facebook group and the answer I was given was that the sprung clamp is correct and the bracket with the foot pocket is a post war mod, possibly by the Norwegian Army. Also apparently the brackets were only fitted on M29C's. Sorry I can't answer your question about whether there was a rear bracket on the driver's side.

not only retroffited on M29C but all the weasel production after war I don't think it is only a norwegian production, mostly made BY the US as MWO

Not a lot of work done last month.
Had to travel for work so Weasel has been silent.

Anyway got some new items for the Weasel.

Engine cover which needed some repairs.
Have a rear floor panel, which needs some repairs in the future, but mainly new footman loops.

Looking for some advice on the color.
As my Weasel is an M29C everything was olive drab off factory.
Anyway a lot of recent purchased items are white.
What shall I do, repair and repaint in white, or stick with the factory olive drab color.

your engine cover is painted white because it is was fitted on an ealier weasel ( M29 early or middle production, or T24) try to find the later one with the holes for the stretcher brackets, you can also drill it . you do a really nice restoration, with lot of details!

  3. 6000 $ is not a crazy a price, the last two set I have seen for sale (and sold !) was at 12000 euros in perfect condition)  the capstan itself cost 1500 euros. about the skirt I would only keep  the fornt on rear pieces and make the centerpiece , that's what I ve done on my skirt . it is cheaper to give the drawing to a bending shop than trying to make straight skirt with cut and bent parts.
