Wow. Amazing work... This is needed.for a lot of top rollers and early idler wheels
Patrick. All rubber on original machines where black. Some do have over spray. But that's it.
The true difference in boogie wheels.
Is as follows.
1943. BF Goodrich is placed on the inside of the wheel. Not visible from the outside at all.
1944. BF Goodrich is now on facing the outside and a red circle is used
1945 still on the outside now using a red rounded rectangle.
Some 45 examples can be found with red circle
Post war monarch makes boogie wheels
Ok, What is the red circle for?

Hello Patrick,
Is there a way to select the newest post on a thread? Newest content to show to oldest?

Your photos with rebuild are fantastic! How much time from start to today? No photos of what you did to tracks? I am asking rubber track details? Lighter or heavier? Any running issues? What did you have to change with kit? Some of our events or parades do not like the steel tracks. Great option. Cost? Thanks!

@Will Dodge Thanks Will! Yes - the hull did not look that bad and probably was about standard for Weasels in this part of the world, but it was a huge amount of work to bring it back to more or less new. The remainder of the restoration should be pretty well downhill - I have almost everything - most is in good shape so just a lot of cleaning and refurbing.
I am going to install original 15" tracks so that might be a rodeo yet....I have a set + so I will be getting into the questions you are posing on the track thread. The 15" are different because they only have two bands instead of 4....this Weasel will be a little more of a trailer queen than a runner although I do want to be able to drive it around. I may swap the tracks out after I get it finished and photographed and run something more durable....TBD.
Did yours not originally come with track?

There are several hardware suppliers.
Carriage bolts, Grade 8 steel plain finish - Bolt Depot
Grade 8 Bolts - Coarse and Fine Thread - Grade 8 Nut and Bolt Assortments (nutsandbolts.com)
Grade 8 Bolts - Lightning Bolt & Supply (lightningboltandsupply.com)
Has anyone used any of these vendors?

Would you say the hull is your biggest challenge on this project? Looks great! Just wondering if you will get to the downhill side?

After a search I noticed several induvial post on this topic and all had different ideas?
Stretched belts and proper spacing seem to be a common concern.
Sprockets? Reuse install new?
Just more questions.
It's been up for 15 minutes....... Patrick are the drawings ready? 🙂

Did you make the molded pads? How many did you make at a time? Can you share your method?
-
Lets start with basics.
How many grousers on the left and right of M29
How many grousers on the left and right of T15
What is the proper thickness of the belting? What have others used with success? Too thick and power and steering problems and damage. Too thin and ????
Width of belt? Full coverage? 7 inch? 2 inch? (I am unfortunately am a 2 inch guy)
Grade 8 bolts? T Nuts? Rivets? Hot glue gun?
Rubber track pad options? Belting? Cast? Old tennis shoes?
Supplier options? Who have you used? Continuous bands? Conveyer? Hardware? Tooling?
Photos of the process if you already did some, or in process, or?
If we start with information, I'm sure Patrick could put some great drawings and directions together in his free time? It's not like he is really doing anything anyways. 🙂
