Were the data plates the same?

Anyone aware of a publication that explains the markings? Did the Marines use the Army Data plates? Were they marked?

Are those rubber pads unmolested?

Hi Will, it’s taken me 6 months to complete this weasel....... but is it finished..... debatable as I’m still having teething issues now. Radiator had a melt down and decided it had had enough, it cracked last weekend. Previous to that, the fuel pump pipe inside the fuel tank decided to collapse. All these things are 70+ years old and after being put under use after sitting around for a long time they are starting to show their age.
the rubber tracks are great. I am making a TM manual on how to fit them just for fun. I’ll post shortly.
6 mon ths is awesome! I checked with Staman and they are out of track kits. They do not think they will make again. Look forward to your TM! Thanks!

I was reviewing David Doyle's Book and the WW2 Markings Book and WOW! Were Weasels just marked at random?
Some have stars? Some have the star and circles? Stars at the rear side? Stars in the middle? Many with no stars.
" Instal drain plugs before "
registration numbers in various locations?
Early war blue and late war white marking mixed?
Are they all correct?
Were the M29 and M29C and M24 marked different?

TM 9-772 page 19 has a drawing of the rope with hooks. Page 24 on pdf. I could not find exact hooks online. I ordered 4 strand 3/4 Manilla with two hooks and the thimbles. I'll post photos when finished. Any tips on zinc removal? I assume they were not zinc coated?

This is 4 strand rope. Stronger than 3 supposedly. Do you think anyone will notice?

Anyone have a photo of original tow hooks?
-
Is that in one of the manuals? Thanks for the information!

What line or rope would have been outfitted on a Weasel? How long ? Diameter? I'm sure jute or hemp. Did both water and regular carry rope?

Were the track changes from refits? Or production changes?

Anyone that has rebuilt their track with belting, can you tell us the thickness and width you used and how it handled in use?
-
55 or 56 ?? Does anyone know what the reason was for grouser count? Is there a sproket difference? Is there something in a manual that I missed?

@Will DodgeAmbiliary track information. Grouser drawing remains the property of Steven Malikoff.
Thanks for starting the party!

So I am starting a NEW post to see if anyone can answer the questions below? If you have rebuilt tracks or have personal experience, please chime in!
I have all of the sources to do a build but before I pull the trigger I want to verify info. There will be a cost savings to do all inner and outer belts the same width if that is important. Continuous bands pre cut and drilled. So in theory just bolt on the grousers and other parts and install and play. (Sounds too simple)
Measurements, photos and drawings are helpful!
How many grousers on the left and right of M29 Are they all the same number?
How many grousers on the left and right of T15
What is the proper thickness of the belting? What have others used with success? Too thick and power and steering problems and damage. Too thin and ????
Width of belt? Full coverage? 7 inch? 2 inch? (I am unfortunately am a 2 inch guy)
Grade 8 bolts? T Nuts? Rivets? Hot glue gun? What size has been successful?
Rubber track pad options? Belting? Cast? Old tennis shoes? Anyone have one NOS pad?
Supplier options? Who have you used? Continuous bands? Conveyer? Hardware? Tooling?
Photos of the process if you already did some, or in process, or?
If we start with information, I'm sure Patrick could put some great drawings and directions together in his free time? It's not like he is really doing anything anyways. 🙂
