I dont think the position of the key way will have any affect on the oil pump. The rotor in the distributor will be 180 degrees off.

Ive never had to prime an oil pump on any engine Ive rebuilt. They should suck up the oil. Its hard to tell anything by that picture.

Seems like the machine shop should send a guy over to do that for you.

At least you can get to it. Mine was in the vehicle already.

At the very front of the oil gallery bore is a threaded plug. It is behind the camshaft gear inside the gear cover. If that’s missing you’ll have that exact problem. Don’t ask me how I know. 😬

There are companies across the country that will re-rubber them for you. Search for polyurethane wheels.

I’ve used Continental for many years. They have no problem with tracked vehicles. Your State Farm agent probably got a good chewing out for insuring that.

The only suggestion I would have is to make the spacer in two pieces that can be installed with out removing the track.

Keeping all the steering linkage well oiled makes a huge difference in the amount of effort required to steer. The type of driving surface makes a huge difference also. The machine was designed to drive on the top of snow where it comes alive like a graceful wild animal. Hard surfaces and grass not so good.

Definitely take the canvas off. The windshield should be fine if left in the up position. The loading in the above photos looks good. I think I would use chains instead of straps. Not sure if the winch cable on the front is even legal.

Someone should jump on that. Its a great project. I tried to plan the trip from near Chicago to Long Beach to get it, but I’m getting too old and beat up to drive that far.

Keep your old hull. You can lay it on it’s side, then bolt the tanks to it while your rebuilding them.

Price of steel is crazy. I think I paid half that for my set from him 10 years ago.

I always use STP or equivalent on every moving part during assembly. Oil pumps, even new ones are cleaned in kerosene then blown out, so very little liquid at all in them. They still pick up.
