  1. Patrick. I boil parts in a barrel of water, dish soap, and sodium hydroxide solution. One gallon costs less than the stripper your using, and will do everything on a weasel that will fit in the barrel. For large parts I build a fire under the barrel. For small parts I use a GI immersion burner to boil the water. Takes about an hour. In the summer, parts left in the solution for a couple of days have the same results. Just hose them off afterwards and they’re spotless. Works on grease and paint. I used to spend thousands on paint stripper.

  2. My experience with the fuel pumps is that the die-cast material is the weak point. Many parts are screwed to the die cast and the threads tend to rot away. Especially had trouble with the brush retaining screws coming out. I finally went with 1970s Cadillac fuel pump inside the original case and brackets. Works perfectly, and sounds exactly the same.

Brilliant, thank you Jesse for the photo. Does the piping get cut where it hooks into the side of the hull? I was wondering if yours is the same as Johns

i don’t think I fitted the part on my last weasel.... whoops. I have the clamping plates this time so I’ll look forward to doing this.

The answer is: I dont know. I dont have proof either way. Maybe that piece is in the background of a picture in one of the manuals.

  4. Looks great John. We had to do it a different way on our 2 floaters. We put the engine and capstan drive shaft in first, then the radiator and shroud. It may be impossible to connect the drive shaft to the engine once its installed. Theres just no room to get your hand in there. I hope it works for you.
