Larry Mass
I resently removed the motor from my weasel and discovered that there is a switch by the output shaft. The wires were cut and not anywhere to be found i was wandering if the switch could be a neutral safety switch. Larry
Patrick Tipton
I looked at the T15 wiring diagram and did not see any such animal. Regards, Patrick
Larry Mass
Has anyone have an idea what that switch is for or is it even the right transmission tail stock. Larry
M29C3284
I wonder if that switch could be a overdrive lock out switch. Your transmission is a T84, isn't it?
Larry Mass
Actually it is a T96 A1 did they have this model in the T15s and there is a extra shif lever in front of the switch but it doesn't do anything it moves freely without changing anything. Patrick Tipton
Negative @Larry Mass the ORD 9 lists the T84J for the T15.....
Larry Mass
So is this a civilian transmission or did other models have the T96 in them Larry
Patrick Tipton
I "know" this from the Illustrated Parts Listing...so...take it with that....I believe that all of the Weasels had the T84J. The Norwegians put T90s in them. I Googled the T96 and see references to '38 cars....so.....you probably need to be looking for a T84J. M29C3284
The T96 is used in Studebaker cars from 47-57 and yours has the overdrive unit on it. You can see the build up in this catalog from Studebaker international. I you are not going for 100% originality, I would use the T96 but removed the overdrive unit. It's a better transmission than the T84. Edited December 23, 2020 by M29C3284 spelling
Larry Mass
Thanks for your quick replies i think i will use the T96 because the drive shaft fits and when i drove it there was no noise. Thanks again Larry
