  1. My M29 is pretty sloppy.....I did a quicky refurb on the mechanism.  There is a lot going on with the shifting mechanism and control rods so I think you really need to go thru it - like @OZM29C John did...if you want a really nicely shifting Weasel.  I have pretty nice parts for the T24 so hoping it will be nice and smooth.

    Cheers

  2. I have not finished them - either project!  But, I am heading out to my shop shortly to, among other things, take apart another 20 grousers.  I have probably 50 apart - so roughly half way done.  The bands are in - they look great, as do the elevator bolts.  I need to focus!

    Pics later.

  3. Congrats.  Looks great.  Are you planning to keep the Norwegian mods or go back to M29?  Not that it really matters either way!

As for the hat channels, etc. - it is a lot of work as you know, but not particularly difficult.  Mostly time and lots of cutoff and grinding wheels.

Looking forward to seeing her run!

The grousers are solid brass, there's probably several hundred pounds of brass.

Wow!  My grousers are steel, the track guides are bronze.  I have a second set that are like Tim's @42rocker - steel and steel.  I am starting to reband mine this weekend.  Pictures to follow soon.

  5. Love it John!  @OZM29C That is a thing of beauty.  I am not going that far....I don't think - but I am still waiting for a return call from the machine shop.  I have a clean(ish) shop, the final drive needing reassembly, transmission parts to clean....etc.  Time to finish this T24!

  6. I purchased a T24 part from an Ebay seller in Poland in December 2021 who makes a number of parts for Weasels - or at least posts pictures of his parts.

He never sent me a tracking number but when asked, claimed that he was away from his home and could not provide it.  He continually assured me that the package was shipped.

The package has not arrived as of today.

He continues to list products on Ebay.

I know of at least two other people who ordered and gave him more time than I did.  They waited so long that Ebay would no longer provide any recourse.

I filed a complaint and received a refund from Ebay.

    Caveat Emptor!

I am considering going to heavy belting on both out-board runners, Shear and punch plates to attach the belting to the shoes and retain the existing center road sections. Looking forward to how you do your tracks.

That is what I did, except mine covers the inner two holes and will be the surface upon which the bogies and idlers roll.  I purchased elevator bolts for mine - one less step....there are a lot of damn bolts!🤣  Get that impact fired up.  I have about 60 grousers free of 112....

  8. Congrats on the purchase @Mike B!  I believe those are French made tracks from the 60's.  I have two sets and am in the process of rebuilding them with new bands.  They are a nice design but very heavy as I am sure you know.  The rubber is heavy, the embedded links are heavy...tough set of tracks, but man are they heavy.  My revised version will be lighter than the original Weasel tracks - but missing the road pads.  I don't really care for my purposes.  Pics soon!

  9. My friend Carmen is working on his M29C - Hull tag is 6740.  The machine was running and driving but needed a little sheet metal work.  They are fixing hat channels and will have it back on the road later this summer.  Norwegian return - very complete machine with a really nice set of post war tracks.
