I also found spindles with and without plugs in the end. I solved that with a freeze plug from the automotive supply house. I could not locate an exact fit. One was close enough that a little work with a coarse file and it tapped in tight.
The tube with no plug was filled with excess grease and this should solve that issue.

Can somebody tell me if there are 2 bushings in the axle for the high/low shifting?

There are none in my assembly but it seems very loose.

Great progress.  I have been lazy on my springs...you have inspired me to disassemble them and do it right!

Only one bushing on the high/low shift lever....it is a little loose, but the bracket that mounts to the inside hat channel provides a lot of support once installed.

@Patrick TiptonPatrick I now believe that only the one bushing in the mounting bracket is correct. I mistakenly fitted two bushings (both sides) and had a devil of a job to line up the shift shafts into the contour flange bracket.

Beside work on the Weasel, my Willys MB had some heart surgery...

Weasel works were to weld the bracket on the oil pan and make a new piece of wood which is fixed on the engine cover near the gas pedal.

And found some nice gem....which needs to wait for the next years before even thinking of mounting.

Found myself 2 gearboxes, of wich 1 original Weasel and 1 earlier gearbox.

Looking for all the internals, so if somebody has parts, please let me know.
