    @Patrick Tipton Patrick, can I add my two cents worth here? I would suggest that a continuity check be made on the starter solenoid wiring. The wires are; From the starter switch to the starter solenoid (Yellow) and from the solenoid to the Armature terminal on the voltage regulator (white R/T). This rules out one potential area where electrical problems could occur.

    Thanks @5280BeltfedThere may have been a chance, all but very slim though, that it was the engine for my GPW. Mine is in the 135xxx range.

    @M29Dan, Good work on the final drive👍 As I said to Patrick, take your time and follow the instructions in the manual. I have been following your restoration thread with interest. It will be good to see it mobile one day but for now one step at a time. Out of interest, was the T15 designed to float?

    Did you ever wonder what the insides of a Cordomatic Spotlight retractable reel looks like. I got the opportunity after having the retracting spring snap, the very first time I went to use it. I purchased the reel many years ago and mounted in position a while back. On the weekend just gone I thought that I would try it out. Bad move, the spring snapped. Anyway after a number of attempts to repair the spring I came up with the idea of fitting a brass collar over the spring. Pictures tell the story. Seems to work OK. I think I will leave the Reel now as a show piece.

    @RAS1Dave, I haven't been able to find out much information on Task Force Frost other than the exercise was conducted post WW2 so there would be a good chance that the weasel pictured was initially painted in Semi Gloss OD.

    @RAS1Dave, the school of thought when I put the question about the Operation Frost Weasel colour scheme was that it was OD and white, not black and white as it appears in the photo l.

    @RAS1I'm wondering on overhaul if they didn't just use whatever parts were laying around, and built this from many weasels? Dave, after rebuilding my Letterkenny weasel, I am reasonably confident that the answer to your question above is 'Yes'. I have late production float tanks fitted to a mid production hull, late model dashboard and the accelerator mod kit fitted. The oil can bracket is in the correct position. Don't remove the bracket holding the Bubba bilge pump. It was used to mount a heater kit. Tiller Handgrips are not OEM. I will leave your production date questions to the more learned weasel scholars on this subject. BTW a real nice starting project. I hope that you keep it as a Letterkenny weasel as I did. Cheers JW

    @RAS1Dave, great story. Thanks for taking the time to post it. I have seen photos of 'Old Rusty' many many years ago. So much so I kept the photos for reference. Good to see it has found a new home. Would Old Rusty be a Letterkenny Rebuilt Weasel? I am not quite sure about the fitment of a machine gun in the back of a floater???? I guess anything goes in the movies. The only wartime photo I have of a Weasel fitted with a Machine gun is of a British Weasel fitted with what I am told is a Vickers MG. Having said that I am sure that user trials were conducted with MG's. The condition of Old Rusty's hull will determine what you do with it.

    @M29 Dan, Gary Scechy's excellent article on the final drive makes mention on his solution to your problem. In my case I machined out of Nylon stock a very close fitting tapered collar/seal that pushed onto the shaft. Same deal for the brake band shafts. Time will tell if these work. On the other bolts etc, I too used O rings. Cheers This service is required to restore proper steering and braking operation of the M29 Studebaker Weasel.docx

    Thanks Dan @M29 and Patrick @Patrick Tipton. Driving the weasel is a bit limited at the moment as I don't have any seats for it. Just the seat backs. Plus I still have some more painting to finish. The seat canvas is on the water from the UK and should be here by the end of this month. I am also working on my 5 tonne truck to carry the weasel around to shows and events. Again I will have it back on the road soon. My weasel looks a bit different from when I first got it.

    This weekends weasel fun was to apply the final coat of OD to the drivers side and then apply the stencils. For the purists, before jumping up and down saying the stencils are positioned incorrectly, this weasel is a representation of a weasel that rolled off the Letterkenny Ord Depot production line in the 50's. Paint was Semi gloss OD, stencils were white and as far as I can tell from looking at photos of Letterkenny weasels, stencils were applied/positioned at random. Now onto the passenger side.

    @RAS1 There is an excellent article in the April/May 2019 MVPA History in Motion Magazine that was written by Brock Jollife (M29C Floater owner). This article discusses the Demolition system in a T24. I am not sure on the copyright/ownership of this article so I won't scan it and post it here. Perhaps @Patrick Tipton would know the legalities of posting information from an MVPA magazine?

    @RAS1 They are called Ambillary tracks. I can't be sure of the spelling. Post war production and used extensively in Antarctica. Photo below showing an EPF Weasel fitted with them. No for the road pads. They also attached Ice grousers to them. The LAR tracks were based on this design. Is that your new floater project? Do share😀

    @Price USMCI have a set of seat and seat back covers coming in from Canvasco (John and Mary Worthing) in the UK. I have it on good authority that they are good quality reproductions. I am hoping to see them at the end of July so I will report back then. Cheers

    I had to fabricate and fit a shift lever air deflector seal to my M29C. Unfortunately I did not have an OEM drawing to work from but I was given a drawing for the early T24 canvas shift lever. From there I drew and fabricated a metal (and felt) shift lever seal. A quick disclaimer. This shaft seal fitted my M29C but I can't guarantee it would fit other M29C's.     @M29 Dan, " I think he is a friend of John Wilson OZM29C", that me 😀 As I said over on G503 Gordon McMillan was the last fellow I knew who cast a batch of Compass brackets and that was 15 plus years ago. I don't know of anyone else who has again reproduced a compass bracket. I do remember that I had to do a lot of machining to allow the compass to fit inside the housing. I suspect that there was some shrinkage of the metal during the casting process. The first photo below shows the top surface being trued prior to drilling the mounting holes. Second photo shows the amount of metal I had to take off the inner surfaces in order to allow the compass to fit.

    @Patrick Tipton BZ Patrick 👍👍👍 What a difference a coat of paint makes. I'll bet that you can't wait to start bolting the trinkets and jewellery onto the hull. This stage makes the restoration more satisfying.
